深林人不知,明月來相照
泡一壶茶,只求一个自在
I am John the founder of Deep Forest.
Tea is a way of life since I was a child. I fondly remember a tea set stored in a rattan case situated in the living room, always full of tea for everyone to drink. The tea culture was further developed as my mother is also a Taiwanese. Many years later, I also discovered that my ancestors were tea farmers from Anxi, Shang Ma Shui Village. As I grew older, the affinity became stronger.
I really got into tea about eight years ago. It really helped me through difficult times and healed me gradually when I got hurt. It was during those years, that I was diagnosed with depression and everyday felt like it should have been the last. However, I did look forward to going home and to brew myself a comforting pot of tea. That was indeed a saving grace.
Years later till now, Tea is also a great part of my life. I have integrated Qigong, Wushu (Martial Arts) , energy fields and incense to further enhance the experience of tea and Cha Qi (whenever I drink a really great cup of tea)
I got married last year with a supportive lady who has seen me through tough and dark times. I feel blessed and fortunate. The home I am living with her, is now my tea sanctuary. I feel safe, comforted and happy in my home. My house resembles an Oriental Zen Tea room with a tatami tea area and a proper table tea area. My wife permits it and it is also my pride and joy.
I currently do tea pairing with food, music, incense and energy to fully appreciate the tea journey. You can think of me as a tea hermit, tea collector or simply just a tea bartender.
Have a cup of tea my friends
